Christine Drakeford, Small Business Supporter

Surviving in business is one of the hardest things to achieve.  And with over 20 years in small business on the Central Coast and in the Hunter Valley Christine speaks from experience.  It was a huge struggle coping with all facets of business, as well as juggling the responsibility as a single mother of two boys. Christine says that she made plenty of mistakes; however she also had a lot of successes.  Now she’s using that experience and knowledge to help the business community here on the Central Coast.

Christine has facilitated programmes for youth unemployed, teaching skills to enable them to enter the workforce.  She has run her own business consulting firm developing strategies to help businesses to succeed.  She has been a Senior Business Advisor for the Business Enterprise Centre, and over the past 7 years has been the Small Business Answers Program/Small Business officer directly assisting and advising thousands of small business operators.

She was also a director of the Central Coast Community Chest for 2 ½ years giving time to fund raising for over 60 charities on the Central Coast and Director for Youth Connections, helping youth with education and trying to prevent early school leavers falling through the cracks.

Christine is considered by many, many businesses as their support network -  to bounce ideas, get real help and to know that someone is in their corner.

At this year's Expo, Christine is going to challenge you as to whether running your own business is really for you....
