John Ralph, John Ralph Camera House

John Ralph started working on the Central Coast in 1970. First as a pharmacist, later as a photographer and finally creating the Camera House business in Fountain Plaza, Erina. John has been involved in many businesses including pharmacy, health foods, invalid aids and photographic businesses in eight locations.

As the computer has changed all these industries, John has needed to adapt to keep abreast of both technology and the changing market. From the computerised POS in his pharmacy and first camera shop to the high tech environment of the current Camera House, John has been aware of the need to invest in technology for the future. The latest challenge to the photographic industry goes beyond the myriad of department stores, browngoods and computer retailers now selling cameras to the internet. It is in this environment John searches for the solution to the changing market place.  The retail store of today must have a value proposition to counter the internet traders. It must be competitive enough to increase sales whilst offering a service or product that is unique to the retail outlet in their area – John will share his views with Edgar Adams as one of our interview ‘subjects’ On the Couch at the Expo.

Meet John in Edgar Adams’ On The Couch session – “Keeping Ahead of Technology” on Thursday August 14, 2:30pm to 3:30pm
