Cr Welham – Mayor, Wyong Shire

A Councillor since 2004, Councillor Welham was born on the Central Coast and grew up at Gorokan. He attended Gorokan Primary and High Schools, and was Student Representative Council President and School Vice-Captain. He now lives at Lake Haven.
Since 1997, Councillor Welham has been a teacher at Northlakes High School in San Remo. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with double majors in Australian and South-East Asian Politics and Religious Studies, and a minor in Japanese. He also has a Diploma in Education majoring in Languages and English as Foreign Language.

Growing up in the area Councillor Welham has had various connections to community groups including many years on the committee of Toukley Swimming Club; Secretary of Central Coast Swimming; Chairman of the Toukley Police Community Consultative Committee; Lay Assistant with Gorokan Anglican Church; Secretary of Toukley Lions; and Charter President of Gorokan-Kanwal Lions.

He is the chair of Wyong Traffic Committee and is a member of Council's Community Benefits Grants Panel; the Wyong Shire Sister City Committee and the Central Coast Area Assistance Scheme Local Ranking Committee.
Councillor Welham is also an alternative delegate to the Australian Sister Cities Association and the Central Coast Area Assistance Scheme Regional Advisory Committee. As Mayor, he is also on the board of the Gosford Wyong Councils' Water Authority.
